Our wound care center has a unique team of wound care providers and nurses who will review the patient’s health history and may order diagnostic tests, which could include x-rays, blood work and studies to assess circulation. The wound care team, along with the patient will then establish a comprehensive treatment plan to take steps to heal the wound.

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy

Hyperbaric Oxygen therapy (HBOT) is a non-invasive and painless treatment in which a patient lies in a monoplace chamber while breathing 100% oxygen while under increased atmospheric pressure. HBOT causes extra oxygen to dissolve into the blood plasma, which feeds the damaged tissues. This promotes the formation of new capillaries in the areas of wounds and thus healing of wounds. HBOT also inhibits the growth of bacteria also helping in wound healing. Treatments last approximately two hours. The number of treatments is determined by the hyperbaric doctor and is based on the patient’s diagnosis. Most patients receive treatments daily for 20-30 treatments. Most patients rest comfortably during treatments while watching tv or listening to music.

A specially trained technician is at your side at all times to assist you. You can listen to music, watch TV or nap throughout the therapy.
